ArtsAction for NY is a 501 (C) 4 corporation dedicated to: increasing resources to the arts community statewide, the formation of public policy, developing new sources of funding and new partnerships at the state and local level. It is designed to advocate strategically for New York State's arts and cultural organizations.
Goals
of ArtsAction:
* Increase appropriations for the arts in the public
and private sector
* Develop New York State arts policies
* Maintain relationships
with lawmakers who vote on arts appropriations
* Create clear, consistent messages
about the value of the arts
Central to ArtsAction's mission is to spearhead the commitment of the arts community and engage stakeholders to lobby for supportive arts policy and increased resources. ArtsAction collaborates with the Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations, who provides local advocacy information, education and training services.
Lobbying by nonprofits brings stakeholders to the table so they can participate in shaping and developing policies that affect them and their communities. It makes government accountable to the common good and gives under-represented constituencies a voice in the process. It is fundamental to the democratic process.
